A new feature of Themple v1.1 is that you can choose what excerpt formats you’d like to use for your post excerpts on your blog page. If you go to the post editor in wp-admin, you can see the Excerpt Format option inside the Post Layouts box. Here you have 4 options to choose from:
This is the default behavior how the post excerpts are displayed. It means that if you place a READ MORE tag manually inside your post, the part before the READ MORE tag will be displayed in your blog stream, and it will be formatted with the HTML tags it has. Otherwise, the post excerpt will be used, which is an unformatted text cut from the beginning of your blog post.
The problem with this default behavior is that if you don’t put the MORE tag there manually, the excerpt won’t be formatted – which can look a bit odd if your post begins with subtitles, image captions or lists.
Works similar way to Default if the post has a READ MORE tag. But if not, the excerpt will also be formatted. Use this option if you don’t want to care about READ MORE tags manually, and you just want the theme’s code to resolve the formatting of the excerpt automatically. We’re using this option extensively here on the A-idea site.
Always uses the unformatted excerpt no matter if there is a READ MORE tag or not. Useful if you want to use uniformized look for all articles in your blog.
Puts the full length article in the blog stream. Useful for short articles, where it makes no sense to break it to excerpt + remaining part.
